III. Week One: A Push and Fear

The term ‘they’ was a loose term to Vile. There were a lot of things he could sense around him but this feelings was new to him. Maybe it had been because he hadn’t had to worry about a Slayer in years. Or, it could be because his best friend was a Slayer and they had masked their auras for so long that he couldn’t tell the difference. Whatever the case, the aura’s that Vile could feel now were intense and made him feel rage within him, rage with Flint, but not his own rage.

Flint’s eyes burned with orange. He stood straight and tall next to his best friend. After all that had happened, after all he had been through he couldn’t imagine the moment to deal with these people was now. Vile was a brother to him, no question. The fact that he was a dragon, that was another deal to face but at the moment of these people’s appearance he had one thought in mind. To protect his best friend.

Although there was something different about these auras that Flint couldn’t pinpoint. At first, he thought they were other slayers but that couldn’t be true. What did nag at him was this feeling for Gwyne which he expected Vile to have as well. Glance at his best friend, Vile met his orange eyes. The people he had thought were here weren’t the people he had expected and he hoped Vile would understand that. After all, they had developed a silent language.

Sudden emptiness washed over Vile and Flint in an alarmed manner. Meeting each other’s normal set of eyes, they masked their aura quickly but not as quick as they had liked. Whatever had approached them wasn’t because of some blood lust for one or two of them. At least, that’s what they understood. Sniffing the air, Vile’s eyes widened. Baring he redirected his attention to the sky, hoping Flint would follow.

Above them materialized a winged creature. A winged man with lustful eyes. Then, alongside him, two woman with the same attire. Flint could feel the hate for the two of them radiate off of the three winged above and drew his knives in defense. Slowly elevating down, the man and the two women took their places. Far enough out of range of an attack, close enough to talk.

The woman dressed in a purple revealing outfit spoke first. Hissing as she spoke. “I see that our doll has come to quite the catch.” She smiled opening up her arms as if representing the two below.

“They are quite the pair.” The woman on the right, dressed in blood red remarked, fluttering her eyelashes at Flint then winking receiving a painful glare in response.

“I’d imagine the dragon was quite a tasteful morsal.” The woman in purple laughed to herself, eyeing Vile then licking her lips. Baring his teeth, Vile growled.

“What do you want?” Vile spoke with power, lacing his speech with his aura.

“Such intensity.” The man said with a grin. “No wonder our baby was able to keep herself intact for so long.”

Meeting Vile’s realization, Flint held his throwing knife tightly. “There’s no way she could be one of you.”

“Oh but doll, she is.” The woman in red laughed. “And we wondered how she could have kept this all to herself but we finally figured it out.” The woman in purple finished for the woman in red.

“That Pheonix friend of yours.” The man said, his arms crossed and bare chest showing. “She wiped our poor baby’s memory of every being one of us. So she thinks she’s human for all she’s concerned.”

“But she continued to somehow live without our guidance and we couldn’t imagine what men she could have reeled in to keep her alive.” The man said taking a good look at the Slayer and Dragon. “You two are quite a source you know.” Nodding at Flint he laughed. “And you. I mere slayer somehow manages to stay alive after being with one of our own for so long, if I didn’t know any better I’d say you’re more than a Slayer.”

“I’m nothing more than a human raised Slayer who has blood of the willing.” Flint replied strongly. “If it’s Gwyne you speak of, our relationship is sort of up in the air at the moment.

“Oh, love.” The woman in red smiled. “That’s not the only reason why we came.”

“Then why.” Vile shouted, feeling more range enter his sobriety.

“We’re here to make a pact.” The man exclaimed. “Since your Pheonix friend has messed with the mind of one of our own, she has yet to bare a child. As as you know, we thrive on our population. We have to have children or we will die.”

“Moreover, she will die soon if one of you doesn’t give her what she needs.” The woman in purple said, trying to meet Vile’s eyes which were refusing to meet hers.

“We have yet to actually check on our love,” The Incubus continued. “Her body mind may think she is human but she is still a Succubus.”

“How she hasn’t hasn’t bared a child of either of yours, we do not understand.” The succubus in red added.

“It is known that there are possibilities of intertwining the breeds.” The incubus replied.

“We are taking her to be reborn, Dragon.” The succubus in purple said then paused before adding, “and Slayer.”

“When we return, one of you is to give her life, or you both will suffer.” The succubus in red laughed.

“I can’t let them do that.” Vile said, not turning to face Flint but speaking to him.

“Please tell me you knew about her being a succubus.” Flint gritted between his teeth.

“That’s on Zamer.” Vile replied. “I had no idea.” He said, hoping his best friend could hear the truth in his speech.”

“Do you think they’ll bring her back?” Flint asked, watching the three wait for a reply.

“They won’t bring our Gwyne back.” Vile frowned. “They’ll bring back a succubus is Gwyne’s body.”

“But it is her, in a way.” Flint  tried to comprehend the details. Today was not going the way he expected.

“The fact that she is dying means we can’t do anything but trust them. I did notice her decline in, well, everything.” Vile noted.

Flint nodded. “I guess we have too much to worry about.”

Vile agreed with a smirk then looked up at the three.

“If we find that you’ve done anything to hurt her, we will come for you.” He shouted.

“Indeed you shall.” The woman in purple smiled. Receiving a nod from the incubus, Vile snarled.
---

Entering the house, Flint stepped to the side as his best friend followed him in then shut the door.

“So who won?” Zamer’s father asked intently, glancing down at the bet on the table.

“No one.” Vile, glancing at Zamer.

“What is it?” Zamer questioned, seeing the look on Flint and Vile’s faces.

“You erased Gwyne’s memory.” Flint smirked. “You shouldn’t have done that for us.” He sighed.

Turning to face Zamer, Xeq raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

Sighing, Zamer nodded. “First you tell me how you find out. Then, I’ll explain why I did what I had done.”

“Gwyne’s old pals came by.” Flint explained. “No exactly the fun crowd but they told us they were going to take her and make her new.”

“I’d like to see that.” Zamer said in amusement. “My magic isn’t to be reckoned with and once I take a memory, it doesn’t exactly come back.”

“But you took who she was.” Vile said, now a look of hurt and betrayal in his eyes. “I don’t know how I’d get to know her if she was represented as a succubus from the start but I do know that this isn’t something you keep from me- or us!” Vile’s voice rose as he spoke.

Putting his hand out in front of Vile, Flint spoke. “They said they’d bring her back, do you think they’ll keep their word?”

“The only way for her to come back is if they make her inner succubus self switch into an incubus.” Xeq said, making a face of concern but amusement. “If they do that then she’d impregnate someone and then when she… or he in his case had enough then the incubus could return to being a succubus.” Xeq shrugged. “At least I think that’s how it works.”

Making an uncomfortable face, Luis looked over at Flint. “So you two were having an affair or something like that and then her clan stepped in saying what exactly? That she’s dying? But how?”

“Succubus and Incubus live to deceive women and men in their dreams. To engage in-” Zamer started to explain, thinking of her past memories.

“Right.” Luis nodded, hoping to prevent the rest of the explanation. “So if she was doing you…” He looked at Flint. “And you…” His eyes went to Vile. “Then how is she in danger?”

“Because she hasn’t given birth or impregnated anyone.” Xeq replied, trying not to laugh at Luis’s discomfort.

“It’s also because I’m not exactly human.” Vile replied. “But.” Looking over at his best friend, Vile smirked. “And neither is he.”

“But he’s not like me.” Luis said in shock. “How are you not human?” He said as he looked his cousin over again. “There’s no way your parents…”

“They’re not, Luis.” Flint said, sighing heavily. “Do you remember what you’re supposed to do after you kill a dragon?”

“Considering I don’t know what’s actually going on,” Luis said with a shake of his head. “No, I don’t.”

“Bath in the blood of the dragon.” Flint said as casually as he possibly muster.

“Right…” Luis nodded, thinking of Niali and shaking his head. “I don’t suppose I did that the first time.”

“I doubt you did.” Flint replied, now avoiding Vile’s gaze entirely. “That doesn’t mean your grandfather didn’t get you too,” Flint added, focusing on Zamer.

“Suppose he did.” Luis shrugged. “What would happen?”

“It supposed to be a sign of good luck, a ritual in our pay to respect the dragon. Similar to the Natives praying when they shoot a deer.” Flint replied.

“But it doesn’t make us not human does it?” Luis said, shaking his head, not understand how he could possibly handle that procedure.

“You absorb part of the dragon’s aura then. Making your own aura stronger.” Flint explained.

“Unless you ingest the blood of a dragon.” Xeq interject, amazed at Flint. “That was a rumor.”

“And so are you.” Flint nodded towards Xeq. “I don’t know what you are now Xeq but none of the books have anything on what you’ve done.” Flint explained. “I am not a dragon, not like you Luis.” He said, finally facing his cousin.

“But I do have the blood of all the dragons I’ve killed within me.” Flint sighed. “It’s a way to mask our scent in a sorts.”

“So you weren’t only hiding you aura.” Vile nodded, his voice quiet.

“No.” Flint frowned. “Not everyone follows the tradition. I haven’t slain a dragon in a long time but I used to and that’s enough to affect my blood now.”

“So you’re not the plain ol’ human boy that you wanted everyone to think you were.” Zamer’s father announced. “What a surprise!”

Glancing at Luis, Flint shook his head. “You can take refuge here but I can’t say I can do much for you. I know you’ve always looked up to me and there are things you can do here but all in all, I believe you need to work on the other part of you that is calling for you.”

Taking a step forward, Vile nodded. “I agree with Flint. Your dragon side isn’t going to keep itself quiet and if you ignore it, it will consume you. Although me and Xeq aren’t exactly experts in training dragonkin we are willing to help.”

Luis nodded. “Rogue dragons.” He said, thinking of all the stories his grandfather had told him. “When a dragon loses all trace of their ‘human’ mind.”

“In a way, we were never human.” Xeq said, taking his seat across the table and taking back the money he had set between him and his going to be father in law.

“But we coexist and only the way to do so is stay in our reflection form.” Xeq added.

“I never understood how the water could mirror your…?” Luis shrugged at the term.

“Trueself.” Xeq filled in for him.

“It shows the truth, it reflect who you are, and not what you want others to see you as.” Replied Xeq. “At least, that’s what Xi told me, my teacher over in China.

“Your teacher Xi speaks the truth.” Zamer’s mother said, her voice light. Somehow catching everyone’s ears to make them turn towards her.

“What?” She smiled as she saw everyone’s eyes. “I was raised with the Phoenix before Zamer, I know some things.”
---
Bahram’s hands shook as he tried to get a hold of his anxiety. Saint George was missing. He had to find him, but how? At his side, Mikey put his hand on his shoulder. “We’ll find him. Until then, I’ll see how my mom feels about letting you stay.”

Fumbling with his fingers, Bahram shook his head. “Doesn’t your mom like not know that you’re part dragon?”

“Which is odd because you thought we were all genetic but no. She doesn’t. It’ll be fine man, I know our place isn’t big but I’ll make some excuse like, we’re super cool mates or something.” Mikey shrugged.

Shaking his head again, Bahram looked at the window. Maybe I should go. You don’t exactly look like you have room in here.” He said, gesturing his hands to the small room that Mikey called his own.

“I could get Dröfn to make you a room that exist one way and not in others?” He questioned wondering if it was even possible. “Point is, you’re not going anywhere. You can’t.” He said with his arms crossed. “At least not until you get your powers under control.”

Still staring at his shaking hands, Bahram frowned. “I’m still not sure if I’m cold or if I’m nervous.”

“You can’t be cold, your element’s ice.” Mikey said patting him on the back. “You’re nervous.” He added, then shrugged. “It’s alright I was nervous at first too.”

“You won’t get me to make the same mistake you did and get myself cursed will you?” Bahram said, rolling his eyes, holding his hands together in order to mask the shaking.

Mikey grinned. “I’ll try not to mate but no promises.” He said, heading to the door.

“Saint George.” Bahram said as Mikey reached for the handle.

“We’ll find him.” Mikey assured then headed downstairs.

“Is your friend feeling better?” Olivia asked as she heard Mikey’s footsteps.

“Yes, a lot better.” He smiled then pulled his mom into an embrace.

Ruffling her son’s hair, Olivia sighed. “What is it my son?”

Mikey grinned as he tried to sound as sympathetic as possible. “Mum, Ram is a good mate of mine and was wondering if he could stay with us. You know, until he gets back on his feet?”

“And his parents?” Olivia questioned, putting distance between her and Mikey.

“They’re on vacation.” Mikey shrugged. “He said they let him stay home by himself all the time but I’d rather him stay here, it’s scary living in alone.”

Olivia nodded. “Of course he can stay.” She smiled. “But you’ll have to get him to call his parents so that I can speak with them about the matter.”

Mikey nodded. “I’ll go tell him.”

“Son?” Olivia asked as Mikey reached the middle of the staircase.

“Yes, Mum?” He said turning towards her.

“Doesn’t he go to a different school than you?” She asked, putting on her ‘mum look’ expression that she did when she knew something was up.

“He does.” Mikey replied, keeping his best innocent face on. “But he’s mates with my mates.” He explain with a smile.
Nodding, Olivia turned to the table as she replied. “Well alright, a mates a mate I guess.” She said, hiding her concern in her voice. “Breakfast here in twenty minutes. Don’t be late.” She remarked as Mikey’s footsteps faded.

Opening the door to his room, Mikey smiled at Bahram as he entered. “So… You said Saint George was your only family?”

Bahram nodded, the sheets iced over beneath him.

Mikey sighed. “Okay, well luckily I have friends who can cover for you but you’re seriously going to have to work on this whole icing things over because I’m not a dragon of fire so I can’t undo what you’re doing.”

“Can’t Dröfn?” Bahram asked in desperation, pointing to Mikey’s necklace, instantly freezing it.

Wide eyed, Mikey stared at the trinket then glanced over at the window that slowly encased itself in ice.

Making twisted face between being impressed and mortifying terror, Mikey nodded, holding the trinket in his hand, then meet Bahram’s shocked eyes.

 “I didn’t” Bahram started.

“I know.” Mikey interjected. “But that doesn’t mean anything to Ægir. He’s going to be pissed you froze beloved daughter and he’s probably going to have to replace that window any second now.

Waiting in terror, Bahram and Mikey sat in silence for a few minutes before Mikey shook his head. “Must have not gotten the memo…” He muttered. “Dröfn…” He said, clearing his throat. “If you can hear me, we’ll figure out how to undo this.” He said, imagine that she would be yelling at him in Norse if she wasn’t frozen.

“And when we do I’ll apologize for not protecting you and we’ll have Ram’s powers under control by then okay?” He added.

“And if she can’t hear you?” Bahram asked quietly, sticking his hands in his pockets.

“Then I can at least say I tried to communicate with her.” Mikey shrugged. “Until then, I have a frozen wave of a girlfriend and Ægir is going to probably come after us when he find outs. But.” He nodded looking at the time.

“I’d rather deal with that after we eat breakfast.” He smirked, gesturing to the door.

 “I’m not hungry.” Bahram sighed.

Mikey nodded. “I wasn’t either when I first turned my food into acid but I tried and I need to you try.” He said, holding Bahram’s gaze.

Sighing, Bahram nodded. “And if my food get frostbite?”

“Then I guess you’ll have to give that frost some bite.” Mikey shrugged, receiving a glare from Bahram.

The Descendant (2016) Week One: Fluctuation

One week of being fourteen years old and somehow Elli still couldn't believe the turn of events. She met her mother for the first time, made actual friends, and yet she found herself here, at the New York Police Department. It was the only place she thought she could go. Although Annabeth warned Elli not to interact with the police department it was the only way Elli could figure out anything on her own.

Unlocking the door to the set aside room, Elli sighed. There was a ton of stress on her shoulders before a week ago and until she met Annabeth, she thought the world could have felt that heavy. Shuddering, Elli regained focus, stepped into the room and closed the door behind her.

These room set aside for her were the closest to peace as she could get. Taking out the mirror from her bag, Elli slid her back down against the door and brought her knees to her chest. The room was silent and Elli didn't bother to turn the light on since she knew the mirror would provide it's own shimmer.

Leo Valdez. Elli thought. The memories of the other flashed before her. How could she miss someone she never met? How could she feel someone's death and yet not death? The dead was Nico's expertise not Elli's yet somehow Elli knew there was something wrong with this death.

"Your intuition says he's alive..." Nico smirked.

"And me and Hazel's gut knows he died." Nico said a moment after.

"So which is true? Your instincts or ours?"

Nico's eyes indicated that he wanted to believe her. He knew she wasn't lying. That's not what she did. But he also knew his instincts didn't lie either.

"Leo..." Elli said as she looked down at the faint reflection of her face. "Show me the truth." She said in a hushed whisper.

Meeting her own eyes, Elli frowned. The truth was unclear. Or, could it be possible that Elli, Nico, and Hazel weren't lying? He could have died but he could be alive. The statement baffled her. The possibility was slim. As she stared into the mirror Elli was taken aback by a slight change in image the longer she stared.

The Arai. Elli thought making the mirror show her the marks. To Elli's surprise, she wasn't hurting. The Arai was quiet which was a lot to say since most of the time she had other people's memories washing over her. Running her hand on the left side of her face, Elli wondered if it was possible to communicate with the curse.

"Why are you doing this?" She whispered. Hearing nothing, and seeing no reaction in her mirror Elli sighed again.

“How am I supposed to fight someone with the opposite strength and yet not know what that strength is?” She frowned and gripped her mirror tightly.

“Sounds complicated.” A voice from the shadows emerged. Eyes, widened, Elli looked in the direction of the voice, remembering where she kept the dagger Annabeth had given her.

“Relax.” The voice said in response to her action. “The officers said you were in Missouri. They didn’t think you’d be in any time soon but I guess they were wrong.” The voice was of a sixteen year old. The same age of Percy and Annabeth.

“Why are you here?” She asked. Knowing the answer but testing the boy’s honesty.

“I was stealing.” The boy shrugged. Elli’s eyes adjusted to see the boy sitting on the bed. “The officer brought me in here and told me to rest and if he caught me out there again he’d send me to Juvi.”

Elli shook her head. She knew he was telling the truth but how much of the truth could she hear after all that had happened to her?

“You’ll have to do better than that.” She said, receiving a glance in her direction. “Not all officers take pity on the street kids. And they also know not to let ‘anyone’ in the rooms they designate for me.”

The boy snarled. “Well I’m sorry to rain on your parade princess but it’s true.”

“Not all of it.” Elli replied, grasping the mirror tightly. The boy was hiding something and she couldn’t pick it out, again. Maybe the opposite strength could deal with her losing her own abilities to tell the truths from lies.

“If you’re so good at telling if I’m lying or not why don’t you tell me something true or not and maybe it might clear your head?” The boy said, watching as Elli stood.

Flipping on the lights, Elli met the boy’s eyes after he rubbed them in annoyance. “A warning would have been nice.”

“The full truth would be nice, but obviously I’m not getting it so why did I have to warn you?”

The boy frowned. “Okay, so the officers let me stay yesterday and he told me to leave yesterday but it’s too cold out there.” He frowned. “I managed to get back in here and I was hoping you weren’t going to go berserk on me for using your bed for more than one day.”

Elli frowned. “The officers aren’t allowed to let anyone use the rooms because people leave behind memories.” Elli sighed, receiving a baffled gaze. “Somehow though, you’ve kept your memories from unwinding. Why don’t you tell me how you’re doing that?”

Version 2016

Hello all,

Writing

When I first started this I wanted to improve my writing skills. I know that I've been on and off in the two years of this blog but I want to thank you for you all for your persistence. I also put this blog together to help organize my research which has helped over the years but since life has it's qualities I've backed off of my writing.

My plan is to pick up the blog for next year and hopefully keep it more active than I have in the past. Sadly, I will not be ending the current 2015 versions that I've created. What I will do is pick up from where I ended and start again. Consider it a part three of some sort. I hope this doesn't bother any of you but it is my decision.

I will say that I am grateful. This blog has improved my writing skills. However, as most of you have noticed I write then I post. What I try to do is edit before it post but I cannot catch all of my mistakes which is why I occasionally read over my work and repost it on the days that are scheduled.

  Tumblr

Sadly, the tumblr blogs Dragon Dungeon and the whole museum have not been as active. I do not have as much time as I used to and every time I make something to explain what I do in order to gain partners something happens to those notes. At the moment of me writing this, I am not sure if I will continue Dragon Dungeon since I do know that others have come to create their own version of the museum. I am proud of this and also sad that I started something and yet I am not able to continue it. Truth be told, I spent about five hours a day doing blog work. My next step was to start selling that way I could keep up with everything but again, situations arise and I was not able to.

If I am able to pick up the blogs again, I am hoping to open up a store. This will be a hopeful goal for 2016.

Personal

The new year will be starting soon. I want you all to know what has presented itself to me. I will be picking up school again. My tuition isn't pocket change but it is less than what it could be. There was an offer for me to be an English Major when I graduate but I decided against it because I wanted to experience life a different way and I've made that decision. This coming Spring semester I will be taking two classes and I will be working my normal shift and my job.

College has always been a question. I wanted to take some time off but I was threatened and now I'm registered. My plan was to move out but I know that with my conditions I cannot live on my own. I current work graveyard shift at a convenient store/ gas station. I am talking to someone (yay relationships) who has made me realize more about my personality and how I make choices.

I want to keep my graveyard shift job. I have social anxiety and am anxious if I'm alone for long periods of time. I'll be picking up three classes. I'm testing whether or not I want to get back into music, public speaking, and this freshman class that they're forcing me to take about 'life decision' which I'll probably be late to because I get off of work at 7am. My body has done well enough to wake up at 11:30am but I don't want to count on it. The class itself starts at 12 noon.

Wish me luck. I'll do everything I can to keep this blog up to date. Thank you for your support as always.

Week Twelve: Silenced

--
I know I haven't updated but I realize why I did stop. Do you people understand how difficult this story is to write? You know how much LACK of resources I have when I am trying to teach you about Dragons yet there is almost nothing written on them? I'm focusing on the different Mythologies but I'd love for you all to realize that out of all the places that I could live in, America is too young to have stories of dragons.
"Oh look Abe! You think slavery is a problem? Look out the window. There be dragons at our doors."
Like. How the hell do you respond to that? "Um. ready the muscats... I'll grab my axe."
The whole white house shakes. SWAT TEAM GO. We have a massive dragon on the scene aiming for the president. Like. lol. We're not even civilized. We're fighting amongst each other. Brother verse brother and here this dragon comes destroying them both. I mean. How would you react to that?
Pardon me my fellow Americans but do we have myths? What, Luis and Clark run into nymphs to lead them across the vast lands? Sacagwea the nymph? NO we had Indians! We came over, took over their land, declared it ours, and in the end this nymph Sacagawea.... Yea I'm done ranting guys... I hope you all understand that I wish this was any easier for me to write as factual as possible but in all reality. Dragons are a true mystery.  -6/22/14

I love writing this story. Older version me can shut up because it's fun XD -
--

Vile's skin cooled as the water absorbed into him. He had been called upon above the Atlantic and hit the water unconscious. Sweeping him to its yearning destination, the water controlled his route sending him deeper and deeper into what he believe to be the Atlantic.

Whispers filling Vile's head, his oceanic eyes glowed as he slowly opened them. Gasping, Vile could feel the water course through his gills. Exhaling, he sat up and surveyed his surroundings. The ocean floor occurred pitch black to most but to Vile, his eyes adjusted to the dense blue.

You have arrived. Stated a voice. We've been waiting.

Vile shook his head. Were you the ones who called me about the underworld?  He wondered.
No response only the flow of the current to lead him. Vile steadily breathed. He had done this many times before when he tried to commit suicide. He would await his doom and jump into deep pools of water back first and never landing so. His eyes would open in amazement, his breath became slow and his mind would calm. Even in a panicked state he could sense the remedy willing to sing him to relaxation.

Following the current, Vile watched as marine life lit his path. Certain plants would glow as he approached them, leading the way. Once past, they would dim. It was as if the light knew the time of arrival and departure. Vile loved the ocean. However, he also feared it. No one could swim to the depths that Vile could. After a swimming in the depths for so long he realized that he could go even deeper than submarines which arose the question, how was he not dead from swimming to the ocean floor?

Tasting the water, Vile sensed a different sensation. He had gone swimming with Xeq on a cruise in the Caribbean. This water tasted slightly different. Glancing up, Vile could feel the individual ships above him. Where exactly was he?

Behind him, the current stopped. Setting his foot on the sand floor, the plants lit up Vile's pathway once again. Avoiding stepping on as many creatures as possible, Vile began to walk forward.

Here. The voices called. We are here.

Vile shook his head as he met their voices.

Guardian of the Underworld. Descendant of the Lernaean Hydra.

  Vile listened intently.

  Save us.

Vile sighed. Spitting out a small fish that had swam into his mouth in the process.

How? I do not see you. He thought but then thought for a moment.

Tail whipping out and teeth growing, Vile brought forth his true self. Eyes glowing the oceanic blue as before, he roared upwards causing a massive whirlpool to send out a signal. Vile pitied the ships that were of ranged, however, seeing that he could do nothing about them he accepted the fate he placed upon them to become one with the ocean. Snapping his jaw shut, Vile could feel his wings had shrank and his fins had enlarged. He had never summoned his true self in as much freedom as the ocean floor.

Turning back to the voices, Vile glanced to see the different vibes that he could sense as his true self. The many spirits stood before him, some float, others even playing tag. He assumed those were the children.

Whoa. Vile gasped. There are many of you.  He thrashed his head back and forth. How may I be of service?

Guardian of the Underworld. Lead us. The whispers began to fill Vile's mind. Yes. Lead us home. Lead us.

Vile shook his head. I would love to. He said and cheers filled his mind. He frowned the best way he could with his dragon features. But I know nothing of Lernaean nor his guardianship.

The voices silenced and the free spirits faced him with the best of their abilities.

Why does it rain...rain...rain...down in Utopia? Vile's ears rang. Why does it have...to...kill...the ideal of who we are?

Vile shook his head. "No." He muttered his true self shimmering. The word left his mouth in a bubble of defiance.

Why does it rain...rain...rain..down in Utopia? Vile gasped as he tried to force himself to focus. How will the light die down telling us who we are?

Vile's eyes strained as he finally regained focus. That song is recent compared to you. How do you know it?

We gave them the inspiration. Said one simply, this voice seemed thicker than the rest. Take us, dear Hydra. Take us home.

Vile shook his head. I've only seen one Hydra and it was trying to kill me.

Or, it was trying to bring you back to where you belong.

Vile's eyes darkened. I know where I belong.

In the wind with your fins and gills? Replied the same voice. You have adaptation skills of the Western skies but you will never deny the true blood of the waters.

If he hadn't been in his true self form nor under water his eyes would be brimming with tears of frustration.
You were in denial of your life. Wanting to end it. Vile squinted his eyes. We know what you have done, where you are from, and who you are Guardian. Please. Lead us home.

Vile sighed. Where exactly these spirits wanted to go was of no idea to him. However, this Hydra they spoke of... it tore at his mind. Why would they mistake him, a dragon of water and sky, to be a descendant of a hydra that obviously was only of marine life? Vile struggled. He wanted to help these people. They made him feel important. However, the problem was that he didn't know how to help them. Nor did he understand their confidence in his descendant. Consumed by his thoughts he realized the absence in his mind. Xeq was a dragon of the skies, one of the fastest at that, and he was gifted with swimming and flight. Yearning for an emotional heart felt reaction, Vile reached deep. Roar emerging from deep within his serpent like center he shot his head toward the sky. His heart. He could not feel a single beat.

Week Eleven: The Hydra's Heart

Xeq put his hand to his heart.

“You miss your brother?” He asked as he observed Xeq. Xeq sighed. “Yea. I do. But if you can tell me about this Hydra’s heart then he’ll have to wait.”

“You took something of his.” Mioko said as Xeq sat Indian style by the river inside the mountain, the same place Mioko had brought him to when he first fell from the sky.

  “No?” Xeq said in confusion.

“The wind tells me that he had fallen into the Atlantic.”

Xeq got up in shock. “What?”!

“He’s hurt?” Xeq questioned in panic.

“He’s okay.” Mioko said with an assuring gesture to indicate that Xeq should sit down. Reluctantly, Xeq obeyed.

“Before you go. I shall tell you why your connection is severed. No?” Mioko glanced at Xeq seeing that he had his full attention.

  “Yes.” Xeq said exasperated. “Please.”

“You are Feng and she is Shui.” Mioko started.

“What does Zamer have to do with this?” Xeq interrupted in confusion.

“She is the Phoenix. The one who heals.” Mioko continued. “She told you what was required to heal someone, yes?”

 Xeq smirked. “Something significant, right?”

“That day she did not tell you what she took now did she?” Mioko wondered.

Xeq frowned. It was one of the only days that he had yelled at Zamer. The two weren’t a couple then. He didn’t know who to turn to. He flew everywhere to find people to heal Vile. Finally, he found Zamer.

“No.” She walked away and since I found out that we lived only hours away from each other she set out and went home.

“Did you want to know?” Mioko curiously asked

“Well.” Xeq frowned as he thought of his bother. “No. Because he was healed and that was all that mattered to me.”

“What brought you and him close?” Mioko questioned. “You two aren’t blood. You’re an only child. Did he know that?”

Xeq shook his head. “No… He doesn't knew about that. Besides,” Xeq smirked. “He’s always been around since birth. There’s no way he would know that we’re not really blood related…” He muttered.

“A silver dragon of the sky related to a dragon of the sea? Unheard of.” Mioko said simply.

Xeq frowned. “Our parents aren’t dragons.” He said sternly. “It’s possible.”

Mioko shook his head. “The Phoenix’s parents are not phoenixes.”

  Xeq nodded. “That. I knew.”

“Her great grandfather on the other hand was a phoenix.” Mioko added.

“But phoenixes don’t die?” Xeq asked now the one confused.

“You’re right.” Mioko nodded. “They great reborn.”

“Wait...” Xeq raised an eye brow. “What?”

“Her grandfather said he had seen enough in the world and thought that it was time for a new era. He gave his life to the baby that his granddaughter was having. In turn, she became the next phoenix, the power being reborn within her.”

“Ew.” Xeq said as he thought about dating Zamer’s great grandfather. “So basically?”

Mioko nodded with a smile and laugh. “Don’t worry. She only has the memory of the past phoenix’s but
she is still her own person.”

“Better be.” Xeq said with a sigh.

“She took the nightmare.” Mioko remarked sternly.

“What”, Xeq said in surprise. “How could a nightmare be significant?”

“It told him who he was and would one day lead him to his true brothers.” Mioko explained.

“What do you mean?” Xeq asked now starting at his true self.

“The hydra’s heart.” Mioko pointed at Xeq’s stomach.

“You will gain power, you lose your ability to breath fire, if you can consume the hydra’s heart.” Mioko said.

“But it’s beating inside me.” Xeq frowned and feeling a little sick in knowing that he was now part hydra.

“You and your brother can become one.” Mioko continued. “He is what you’ve consumed.”

“No.” Xeq looked at Mioko is disbelief. “Vile’s a hydra?”

Mioko nodded. “That would be the only reason why you two can’t communicate anymore. The hydra
inside him wants his brother. Each part of a hydra can be separated but in the end they all need each other.
They’re each other’s life source.”

“But that doesn’t make sense.” Xeq protested. “Vile was ad-”

“Adopted? Through a foster home?” Mioko guessed.

  Xeq nodded.
