Week Twenty Six: The Descendant: Guidance

Apates cackled in the night. Darkness spread over the path in which the daughter of Aletheia would take. Darkness. Madness. Scorn. The child would travel alone and only fall to her own deception. Dolas had no particular reason to hate the Goddess of truth or her descendant but Dolas did love to trick and what Apates assigned him to do only lifted his spirits.

Pseudologoi were placed for her eyes and some were assigned to him as well. Apates hoped Dolas would finish the girl but if not, Apates knew what needed to be done. Gaea had fallen and now she could strike without supervision. It felt glorious to be free again. Not only in the night but in broad daylight.

Dolas happily set out his route. A little magic here, a couple of monsters there. Perfect! He thought to himself as he laughed his nights away. The girl was foolish to go alone and now she would regret it. Nothing could save her. Not even the son of Hades that she had wrapped around her finger.
--

Prometheus scowled as he placed the book down gently then exclaimed in anger. Why must his favorite character die? Why must a book written with such sophistication end with such horror? He was frustrated. Behind him were stacks of books and in front of him were more. He had to read the following book. Although his favorite character died, he mustn’t give into his ferocity. He had years to complain, now wasn’t the time.

A shimmer lit up the room. In annoyance, Prometheus glanced up and marked his place. In front of him was his daughter. Scowling, he turned back to his book.

  “Father.” Aletheia protested.

“Are you not believed to be my child?” Prometheus grunted. “Are you not supposed to be the daughter of Zeus and Hera?” He complained. “Why must you bother me? I am engrossed in enlightenment.”

“You’re always engrossed in enlightenment.” Aletheia sighed. She didn’t need her truth telling skills to know that.

“My daughter is looking for you.” Aletheia said, making Prometheus shut his book abruptly.
Prometheus rolled his eyes. “I have no time to play your hide-and-go-seek-game daughter. I am busy and I rather not be disturbed for another millennium.”

“She won’t come alone.” Aletheia continued, ignoring her father’s complaints. “I hope she can break you from this spell better than I can. You chose wrong, father, in the last Titan war. I hope you do not do this once more.”

Prometheus laughed aloud. “Oh?”! He exclaimed. “And I suppose you were somewhere to be found oh truth teller. You see, daughter of mine, you had to get your hiding abilities from someone.” He smirked. “And that someone is me.”

Aletheia frowned. “Father, the world is in need of your assistance. Apates…”

“Bah!” Prometheus exclaimed. “Apates! Why do you fear Apates my dear? The truth holds more power over lies.”

“Father, while the truth may be a sword of brutal force, lies are of a dagger, which, if used correctly can take out what strength truth brings.”

“Bah.” Prometheus replied again. “Of course, daughter of mine. So I know this. And?”

Aletheia sighed again. “Father, this is the first battle of many. Do you wish to stand by and do nothing once again? Have you not seen what has happened in the past couple of years?”

Prometheus smirked. “You mean Gaea?” He snorted. “Once she took over the world all I would have to do is make more people. Stronger people.” He shrugged. “Maybe give them more knowledge than I had the first time.”

  Aletheia smirked. “Father.”

“Daughter of mine.” Prometheus grunted. “Have you read the works of the world? These…” He pointed at a stack in front of him. “Graphic Novels as they call them.” He grinned. “Even without color they are quite entertaining. I suggest you read them some time.”

Aletheia shook her head. “You speak the truth only for yourself.”

“And you speak the truth of the world. Of course. That’s what I made you for.” He smiled. “Now, run along now daughter of mine. I have more important matters to attend to.”

With this Aletheia approached her father and opened up her hands in front of her as if they were a book. In the white mist, Prometheus sighed and looked into it. There, tossing and turning were two children of the same age. One, he guessed was his granddaughter. The other, he did not know.

“Do you wish for a sleep remedy?” Prometheus shrugged. “Why are you showing me this?”

Aletheia was silent as she gazed at her father. “On the right is my daughter, Elli Triad.”

“And on the left?” He asked more to get Aletheia on with the program so he could get back to his novel.

  “Her enemy.” Aletheia smirked.

Raising an eyebrow, Prometheus looked up at Aletheia who stared blankly back at her father.

“Ah, so it seems, her ‘enemy’.” He nodded. “And I care…” He paused and gave a shrug. “Why?”

“Apates is not only my enemy she is yours father. They want you sealed away so you cannot advance humanity.” Aletheia explained.

Prometheus laughed. “Then why pursue me?” He shook his head. “Trickery and deception can only go so far…” He smiled. “It’s almost amusing.”

“Because they want to seal you away for good.” Aletheia replied simply.

Prometheus touched his heart and looked at Aletheia with compassionate eyes. “Oh? So my daughter cares enough to quest her daughter to find me so I can be taken out for good?” Prometheus nodded at this. “I’m sooo touched, darling.”

Aletheia shook her head. “She is not to find you.” She replied shaking her head. “She is to fight her enemy and that is all.”

“Oh?” Prometheus said in surprise. He honestly thought she wanted him to do something about this granddaughter of his.

“Then what is it you want from me deary?”

“Nothing.” Aletheia sighed. “I’m warning you of the danger you’re in if she is defeated is all. Some guidance may help her.”

  Prometheus shrugged. “Does she read?”

Aletheia looked back at her father in confusion. “This is a personal question I haven’t asked her.”

“Ah.” Prometheus nodded. “Of course. Because you haven’t asked much of her.” He smiled. “I’ll help her if you wish.” He paused. “But under one condition.”

  Aletheia turned towards her father.

“She must find my help on her own. I do not wish to have a granddaughter of ignorance or stupidity.” He remarked sternly.

Aletheia nodded. “She’ll learn on her own. With her power as advanced as it is, there’s hardly anything she can’t grasp.”

With that, Prometheus grinned and Aletheia turned her back on her father. With a flash of white she disappeared leaving Prometheus to think to himself for a moment before opening up his book to read once more.

Week Twenty Five: The Descendant: Remembering Prometheus

This content has been taken from the camphalfblood wikia page directly to keep the story true to Rick Riordan’s version of Prometheus.

Annabeth rolled her eyes. “Seaweed brain. Now you remember him?”

Percy gave a nervous laugh. “Sort of. I remember Hermes mentioning him at one point, I think he had a phone call.” He shrugged. “But in the Second Olympian War I remember that Prometheus was on Kronos side, he told me that he saw our defeat and asked me to give up. He claimed that the gods were as petty if not worse than the Titans and humanity would benefit only from the victory of Kronos. He told me that under Zeus mankind would never be allowed to advance far. I told him that we wouldn’t give up but he still left Pandora’s Jar saying that I could release Elpis, the spirit of hope that resided within the jar to show our surrender. But after we won Prometheus claimed that he was pretending to be on Kronos’ side to minimize bloodshed. Hermes said that Prometheus shouldn’t be showing his face any time soon. What makes the Goddess of Truth want him back in action?”

“To truth will lies fall and bow, through blood will two take a vow, one shall rise and one shall bind, deception, trickery, and overall, despair will rule and by a betrayal will one comprehend the enemies hand, with similar weapons but opposite strengths will one save or one will state, the true hero of the battle will find themselves not under Olympus but under the Universe itself.” Rachel repeated.

“What if the quest isn’t about saving Prometheus but something about Elli finding someone who’s related to her, maybe not Prometheus specifically but Aletheia might have had another kid with someone else. That’s always a possibility.” Annabeth suggested.

“She said to lift the family curse but this whole time we’ve been thinking Prometheus…” Percy commented. “Why can’t we get Elli to find Prometheus anyways? As Titan grandpappy doesn’t he have a right to help, Elli?”

Annabeth looked at Percy in amusement. “You want him to help Elli after what he did?”

“Yes, he sided with the wrong person, but he is still the Titan of crafty counsel and forethought. The prophecy says deception and trickery and betrayal. It’s based around finding a universal truth or the universal truth instead of fighting to say Olympus and such…” Percy shrugged. “It sounds right up Prometheus’s ally if you ask me.”

Jason gave a small laugh. “But if ‘grandpappy’ Prometheus gets involved what do you think will happen? You heard Zeus, once a prophecy is written it can’t be written any other way.”

“It’s a very loose prophecy though.” Percy pointed out. “It doesn’t even direct who’s supposed to go with her. It doesn’t say that she goes alone either. It only talks of the result. Of what’s going to happen in general. It doesn’t say how she’s going to get there, how long it will take for the quest, the whole having to split up the team to make sure the world ends.” Percy sighed. “This is an important quest but we have no idea of how we’re supposed to go about doing anything. And the one person who the quest is about can’t handle being around all of us at once.” Percy smirked.

“I don’t think the prophecy has to do with Prometheus, the Goddess only said that it was a family curse but what type of family curse? Elli needs to be here to give her opinion.” Percy sighed.

Nico shook his head. “She can’t. It’s too much for her. And honestly her enemy could use it to their advantage, whoever her enemy is, I’m guessing Prometheus is going to need to get involved since she’s family but then again, Percy, you sealed away Kronos.”

  Percy shrugged. ”So?”

“So maybe someone’s trying to seal away Prometheus?” Nico suggested.

“The dream Elli had, a woman that she…”

“Apates.” Annabeth and Nico said in unison.

“Apates?” Rachel asked in confusion. “Who?”

“Goddess of Deception.” Chiron replied. “She’s the one who has Elli’s adopted father.”

“Alright so we solved one part of the mystery, deception is literally the Goddess of Deception but what does she want with Elli and what family curse?”! Rachel rolled her eyes in aggravation. Sitting here without the subject was starting to aggravate her. Elli needed to be here, not sulking in truths and lies that she kept hearing.”

“Imagine hearing a voice in your head that used to be a whisper but now it’s loud and clear.” Nico said looking at Rachel, everyone turned in curiosity.

“Now imagine that voice appearing every time you make eye contact with someone, when you shake hands with someone, when someone brushes up against you as their walking by, a simple arm to arm contact.” Nico added. “Now think of hearing that voice tell one story but as one story is uncovered now there are two and those two bring other stories and it constantly starts to branch. Now imagine being a crowd of that and not only are these people these are demigods all who have fought for their lives to get here, people who were in the Second Olympian War, these people who were in the War with Gaea. Every single moment of truth is unraveled before you, if someone says a partial truth the whole truth reveals itself unwinding and unwinding.” Nico shook his head at Rachel.

“You have to understand, Rachel. Elli isn’t antisocial for the same reasons as me. The world doesn’t confuse her the same ways it does others. She knows what the truth and what’s not. In fact, she honed in on those skills by play Law&Order all her life or Criminal Minds if that’s what you rather think but that’s all she’s done and what she’s been taught. She has been fighting since the beginning, Rachel. The same goes for all of us.”  Nico said with aggravation. How could Rachel even think that Elli wasn’t trustworthy? If anyone was trustworthy at a glimpsed it’d be her. Elli couldn’t function in a battle and as a spy? Right, as if a spy needed an Ara to track her down.

Week Ten: Fen Shui

How could he explain this to his brother? They couldn’t communicate through long distance. Well, they could with a cell phone but that’d be a hell of a phone bill if Xeq explained everything. So, he let the thought settle to the side. He couldn’t do anything but learn for now. He may even come back to learn more but Mioko helped him and he had to pay his regards somehow.

Mioko explained that dragons here in the east represented luck. For the most part, what Xeq got out of Mioko’s lecture was that they were presented differently. Western dragons were looked upon as protective, strong, but feared while eastern dragons were associated with protecting riches which meant luck, wealth, power, wisdom, and strength. Shines, status, and all sorts of traditions were built to praise the dragons that lived in China. Mioko wasn’t sure himself how western dragons were praised or glorified so he asked Xeq.

This took a moment to process before Xeq could fully understand how to answer the question. Shrines? Festivals held in their honor? Maybe in California in one of those race based towns that he heard existed but he didn’t know for sure. In Texas, where Xeq was from, he couldn’t think of a place that would hold a tradition. Maybe Dallas, San Antonio, or probably Houston but he had never gone to one or heard of one.

“See?” Mioko said as he shook his head. “Here, the human hold festivals in our honor. They even ask for our wisdom and strength to get through their storms. Depending on who sees the offering first is the one responsible to help them because not all of us accept offering and not all of us are ‘named’ in Chinese history.”

Xeq nodded in understand. “I have nothing to offer you, Mioko.” He started and paused for a moment. “But by any chance I have a hunch that you know how to fix this Hydra heart problem of mine. Could you maybe guide me in a direction?”

Mioko smiled. “You say you tried to consume the Hydra’s heart in sake to save your brother?”
  Again, he nodded.

“However, you also did it for your selfish reason to becoming more powerful?” Mioko added.
Xeq’s face flushed. With a smirk he replied, making sure that he couldn’t sound aggravated in the process. “You can declare that….” He sighed. “Yes.”

“You did it for your love one as well I supposed?” Mioko questioned.

His eyebrow raised. Xeq didn’t remember telling Mioko about Zamer. “What makes you say that?”
Mioko smiled. “My dearest Xeq, only one of her kind can be alive at a time. Would you think that she would stay quiet about you?”

A smirk slipped up on Xeq’s face. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Mioko shook his head this time. “Now, my dearest friend, you are lying to me.”

Xeq laughed. “Okay. So I’m dating a Phoenix. I mean… The only Phoenix. So what? Please don’t tell me there’s an actual prophecy to that too.”

“Feng Shui.” Mioko said with a grin.

Xeq shook his head. “Yea. Hello to you too.” Xeq joked.

“There are two types of Feng Shui. There is the good and the bad. Feng meaning wind and Shui meaning water. Together, they could mean good fortune or they could mean misfortune. Before your time, and probably your lover’s time, this science and art was created. At first, it was created to protect the knowledge of the Emperor and was known as Kan Yu. Kan Yu was used to make sure that there was success in the emperor’s land. It was a way for farmers to ensure that their crops weren’t to perish and their buildings would withstand from the cold winds of the north but then, in the same way society develops so did Kan Yu.

It became the study of nature and in turn made ‘environment’. As the study matured its focus was redirected to Qi. Qi is energy or a flow. Through Qi, location and direction was now a clearer subject. After Qi, the five elements of wood, earth, water fire, and mental came about. Finally, when used in the proper location Feng Shui emerged. Through Feng Shui in which is used through Qi, balance to the environment can be restored or destroyed.”

Xeq shook his head as he thought of Zamer. Shoot, the Chinese had an answer for everything huh? Feng. He thought to himself. The wind. She was Shui, or the water. That would explain the healing abilities. They had been together since high school. They had their fights but they came together. They restored balance.

“The Feng Shui is also used to help bring Health, Prosperity, and Relationship. Also known as man, heaven, and earth. Through traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese Astrology, and Feng Shui, you get good health, prosperity, and a balanced relationship.

A good example of where Feng Shui can improve relationships is through one’s home. In one’s home there may be Qi which can create a separated and lonely feeling. By using the five elements of the Feng Shui one can rectify this situation.

In the time of the emperor Feng Shui was known to bring wealth and power. This can be seen more often in an office setting in which a finical benefit would occur.”

The lost look on Xeq’s face made Mioko smile. At least the boy was understanding it all. “You were probably asking yourself how you got here, did you not?” Mioko finally interrupted Xeq’s in depth thinking.

“What?” Xeq said in surprise to the snap out of his trance. “Oh…” He paused. “Yea. I was.”

Mioko nodded and grinned. “You, my friend, are the wind.”

Xeq smiled. “It lead me here?”

“Your heart, “Mioki said while point. “You trueself” he said again pointing to the water fall, “You.” He stopped to look at Xeq directly. “You lead you here.”

Xeq nodded. Course, Mioko had to make it all suspenseful. There were so many questions that Xeq wanted to ask but decided against it. It would all make sense in its time. All he hoped was that Vile would be able to take care of himself until Xeq got back and wouldn’t do something rational like go look for him. Then, there would be a problem. There would probably be a bad Fen Shui if Xeq wasn’t careful. He couldn’t stay here for long. For now, he stared at his reflection, his true self, and quietly thought, “What now?”

Week Twenty Four: The Descendant: Acceptance

Elli put her feet in the water slowly, dabbing her toe is, she shivered. Celeste was already in the water and ushering for Elli to join her, Celeste wasn’t far out but Elli still wasn’t the greatest swimmer.

“I’ll teach you!” Celeste exclaimed. “Come on!” She laughed.

Celeste had a rough childhood despite her happy moods. With an abusive father in law and a mother who wouldn’t speak up for herself, Elli wondered how Celeste couldn’t have gone back for revenge. Then again, when had anything that followed the path of revenge help anyone? Elli sighed. Pushing herself off the dock, Elli strain to keep up, forcing herself into a float, Celeste swam over to her.

“Watch me.” She smiled, “You kick with your legs and then left arm and right arm alternate.

Elli sighed. “I’d rather go get the life jacket.”

Taking her hand, Celeste brought Elli to a lower part of the lake. “You shouldn’t drown here, You can probably stand actually.” she laughed.

Doing so, Elli sighed. “Do I have to learn how to swim?”

“It’s fun!” Celeste insisted. “Trust me!”

Elli sighed. Will told her to get out of her shell because it wouldn’t only make her condition worse but in reality, Elli didn’t know why she needed to learn how to play instruments, swim, act, or do any of this arts and sports that Celeste was making her do. She was fine with her crochet and secluded habits. It had become a regular part of her life so why did she have to change now. Doing as instructed, Elli smiled as she swam all the way back to the dock and lifted herself out of the water, exhausted.

“See!” Celeste smiled. “It wasn’t that bad!”

Elli smirked as Celeste laid down next to her handing her the towel they brought from the cabin.

“It’s fun to swim!” Celeste grinned. “And play instruments, and sing, and talk to people!” Elli glanced at Celeste tiredly.

“It’s not as fun to talk to people when all you can hear is their life story play out in front of them.”

Celeste laughed, hiding a nervous feeling. “Don’t be silly.” She smiled.

“No.” Elli sighed. “I know exactly what your step dad did to you and your mother.” Elli frowned. Suddenly, the bright gleam in Celeste eyes were lost.

“I know everything about you, Celeste. There’s not as much as Nico, thankfully. You’re life is seriously simple compared to his but overall…” Elli sighed. “No demigod has a smooth life. Descendant of the Olympians or not.

Unexpectedly, Elli watched as Celeste arms wrapped around her waist, Celeste didn’t say anything but Elli knew what she was thinking. After laying their together for a moment, Celeste let go and then sat up.

“At least you’ll get to know everyone on a personal level, right?” Celeste smiled.

Elli smirked and sat up. “I’m not sure that’s what I want.”

Celeste nodded in understanding. “Well, it’ll help you understand why the person is who they are since you know their background from the start.”

Elli shook her head. “I can be around people, some people but being around more than a few makes my head spin. Why do you think I’m not with Will, Nico, Annabeth, and all of them? I can be by Nico all day but the rest of them? All together?" Elli shook her head.

Taking her hand, Celeste giving a reassuring smile. “I’m sure you’ll find your settings.” she nodded.

“I’m not so sure of that.” She sighed, scooting closer, Elli looked at Celeste in amusement.

Celeste blushed. “Does it bother you?”

Elli shrugged. “Well, I don’t know.” She smirked. “I’ve never really had a chance to interact with anyone that way so I don’t know what I prefer.”

Feeling Celeste cuddle up with her, Elli thought of Nico. “Does this…” She questioned. “Bother anyone at the camp?”

Celeste looked at Elli in wonder. She wished she could look into Elli’s eyes and know everything about her. Some people would love to have the talent that Elli had, yet Elli hated it.

“Most don’t say anything, if they are interested in the same gender.” Celeste blushed. “But we’re alone, if anyone was okay with it would be Percy, I believe, because he seems he most accepting but you said it yourself, he’s in The Big House with all your other friends.”

Elli blushed, looked Celeste over. “I’m about to go on a quest to save Prometheus…” She muttered. “Couldn’t you have waited until I got back?”

Shaking her head, Celeste looked at Elli’s lips and licked her own. Looking away in embarrassment, Elli looked out at the lake. “Are you sure about that?”

“If you don’t want to I’ll wait.” Celeste smiled placing a kiss on Elli’s cheek. “But please, if you make me wait, you better come back.”

A frown met Elli’s lips. What exactly was she supposed to do. Find Prometheus? How would she find him and why did she have to do it? Elli smirked. She didn’t ask for any of this. She wanted to be back at the station solving murders or even the small cases like who didn’t pay their bills.

Feeling a soft touch of her lips, Elli snapped out of her daydreaming and met Celeste eyes. Face flushed, Elli froze. Holding the kiss, Celeste pulled away and gave Elli the best bear hug she could muster. “Happy belated birthday, Elli” She said as Elli could feel the tears fall on her shoulder.

She didn’t mean to pry at Celeste life. It was automatic, the moment the words gave a hint of memory Elli was bound to plunge into it, unfreezing and putting her arms around Celeste, Elli gave her a good squeeze.

“He hasn’t done it to you since you joined camp.” She said as she made Celeste face her. Celeste had three more beads than Tucker meaning she had been at the camp for seven years.

“Seven years of peace, right?” Elli tried to give a small smile.

Celeste looked away in despair. “I have reoccurring dreams about it. I wake up in tears and one of my sibling always is there when I awake but it’s still not enough to make the memories go away.” She said, tears still steaming down her face.

“If it makes you feel better I’ve seen people with histories worse than yours.” Elli smirked. “And not like Nico or Annabeth or Percy.” She shrugged. “More like, people who have gone through the same thing as you but to worse levels.”

Now a fear lit up in Celeste’s eyes. “You mean, people get treated worse?” She said in a choking fear.

Elli sighed. She didn’t mean to make her think of everything that could have happen to her, the thought might eat Celeste alive. Pulling her in closer, Elli looked in Celeste’s eyes seeing the fear and feeling every pulse that made Celeste’s heart aches. Meeting Celeste lips again, they kissed letting the silent tears fall until Celeste sucked in a breath.

“Th-thank y-you.” She said shaking and Elli smile to give her another small kiss.

“When I get back we can hang out more, okay?” Elli smiled. “For now, let’s get back to the cabin and change I’m starting to get cold.” Elli laughed nervously.

Heading back to the Apollo cabin silently, Elli watched as people gave friendly smiles and waves, somehow, everyone didn’t seem to be mad at her for being who she was. But how? Elli looked deep into a guy for the Apollo cabin as he opened the door for the two. Tilting her head, she asked him, not meaning to say but think it to herself. “You take pity on me?”

Caught off the guard the guy replied. “Everyone has their backgrounds as a demigod. No one has it easy.”

“But.” Elli said shaking her head. “No one’s mad at me, I can feel the fear everyone has for me but no one’s mad at me.”

“For being someone you can’t control to be?” The guy questioned.

“Looks like to me you’re wanting us to blame you for something you have no control over.”
Elli smirked. “But, I’m not one of you.”

“Yea…” The Apollo guy looked out the door before he stepped inside himself and shut it. “So I don’t like Ares but that doesn’t mean all his kids are bad, I mean look at Anguish! He even sounds like a tough guy. And he is. But he’s more patient than any of the other Ares kids and the most open.”

Elli’s eyes widened. “Oh no!” She exclaimed.

Celeste and the guy looked at her in confusion. “What is it, Elli?” Celeste questioned, setting Elli’s clothes out on the bed.

“I forgot to go to the rock climbing wall to train with Aguish!” She said looking sunk.

Week Nine: Trying Again

“How about this picture?” Dana asked as she surfed the web. Mikey was getting quite restless about this lack of information about himself. Dana was a friend of his that loved to read about any fictional animal. She was the sister of Terry, who was in the same grade as Mikey. One day, he had come over to play video games with Terry. His club soccer team was playing that same day and Terry didn’t realize it. Mikey had just gotten off his winning game and was hoping to relax. Terry shrugged and Dana offered to stay home and watch over Mikey.

She read a story. One that he enjoyed. It was about mythical creatures. She said that she liked to draw and imagine herself with the creatures she drew. Her favorite was a Pegasus. “To fly above the clouds and see the valleys of many.” She dreamed often and would dreamily sigh. “That would be the best.”

He had gone over to Terry’s many times after he found out about the dragon inside him. Every time he would see Dana he would have to turn away or hold his tongue because he didn’t want to ask her how it was ‘dreamy’ to see different colored squares from the skies. He guessed that she wanted to see the world from the air but not from a high altitude because everything became so vague after a certain height.

Normally, he’d ask her questions about any fantasy just to get her to talk. He liked her voice. She was really interesting. Her brother thought she was crazy but Terry didn’t mind the other creatures that she liked. As long as she liked dragons that’s all that Terry care about.

“So what got you interested in Wyvern’s specifically all the sudden?” She wondered.

Mikey smiled. “Well, seeing that you like mythical creatures I thought I might as well give you an assignment!” He grinned.

“An assignment?” She asked with a hidden smile. “Well…” She paused. “Thank you.” Her grin showed this time.

Mikey nodded. He could probably tell her. But. If he didn’t tell Terry, who he had known for years, he couldn’t tell his sister because that was unfair and didn’t feel right. As much as it hurt him, he had to let it go.

The description says, “A formidable hunter, the Norwegian Wyvern is somewhat similar to the Hungarian Wyvern.”

Mikey frowned as Dana’s voice stepped away from him for a moment. Different types of Wyvern? He sighed. None of them had much information that told him about himself.

“…The Wyvern of rough, green pine scales replaces the metallic spikes by black plates along its back, and is arched. It walks on land which leaves him with a somewhat scary aspect. Very strong. There are records of North Sea navigators seeing adult dragons carrying young whale of three tons in midair. Harsh and agile flight, this dragon usually hunts both eels and fish in both rocky coast of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea as well as large mammals such as elk and wild boar in the pine forest.

Even being voracious, this Wyvern has problem to be receptive among breeders and riders both today and in historical records, especially from Vikings, who may have seen in his ancestors the European Wyvern. Their property of even as a flight mounts, something rare for continental Europe at the time.

For their resilience to cold and harsh winter, there dragonlogist speculate the Norwegian Wyverns would reproduce in subarctic islands such as Svalbard but none have been sighted in archipelago doing something besides challenging the polar bear hunting territories. His temper shows tolerance, but the fact of being strong and independent left him off the list of dragon recommended for beginners.”

A sigh escaped Mikey’s lips. “So much for trying.”

Dana turned in confusion. “Hey sport. I’m not done! They’re ten meters long and have a wingspan of twenty-two meters. They weight four hundred and sixty kilograms and were first spotted or said to be spotted around ninety-three AD.”

Oh yea? Mikey thought to himself with a hidden eye roll. I’m small compared to Xeq and Vile. So what if I’m ten meters long and have a wingspan of twenty-two meters? Xeq is easily twice my wingspan and is probably even bigger. But the real question is the history behind the Wyvern. Am I looking in the wrong place? He wondered.

“Mikey?” Dana’s voice finally reached him after his own inner rant.

Mikey smirked. “Oh. what?” Mikey said in confusion. “Yea, Dana?”

Dana frowned as she poked at Mikey’s mask. “Since when did you starting wearing this?”
Like. A week ago. Mikey thought to himself.

“Oh.” Mikey nervously laughed. “You mean this thing?” He said tapping it?

Dana nodded with her hands on her hips now. “Yea..! Isn’t that what I just pointed at?”

Mikey smirked. “I thought I’d make a fashion statement.” Mikey laughed as he thought to himself. You know… Not slobber and dissolve everything?

Dana shook her head. “By wearing a mask to cover that handsome face of yours?” She said confused.

Mikey was happy he was wearing the mask now. He didn’t want Dana to see the smile that it hid and the drool that he for some reason felt seeping out of the corner of his lips.

“It’s to bring out my lime green eyes!” Mikey explained as he pointed to them and made them glow. He could see an array of colors now, ones that he wouldn’t normally be able to see with his non-glowing lime green eyes.

Dana raised and eyebrow and jumped back in surprise. “Oh? They do have a glow to them.” She smiled. “Neat!”

Mikey sighed. At least he knew that Dana was easily amused. Terry. Get back here soon.  Mikey frowned. She helped but she didn’t do anything that Mikey himself couldn’t have done himself.

(4.11.15) Consider this chapter not important to the actual plot line. What's important is Dana, what she draws, and Terry.

Week Twenty Three: The Descendant: An Accompanist?

Will shook his head. “On the contrary. Even though The Detectve may seem incapable she’s more capable for this quest than anyone here. Her quest is against Zeus but technically Prometheus did defy the Gods. So anyone from their camp could be bad for her quest. I don’t want to send her out alone but I do believe she needs someone special for this job. Maybe she’ll even meet them along the way of her journey.” Will shrugged.

Percy nodded. “It would make sense.”

  Jason agreed.

Piper and Annabeth held a silent conversation. Glancing over at the two, Nico wondered how Elli would have reacted to the behavior. Giving each other a nod, the two smiled.

“What is it you two?” Rachel asked anxiously. “What do you think?”

“Will’s right.” Annabeth nodded. Piper smirked. “I don’t want Elli to go at this alone. If anything, we can always come to her rescue.”

Turning the pages in a book, Chiron signaled the group for attention.

Annabeth looked up at Chiron. “What is it, Chiron?”

“It occurred to me that if Aletheia/Veritas sent Elli to Camp Half-Blood but proclaimed to be neither Greek or Roman then there must be something else. There’s hardly anything about Aletheia or Veritas in any of my books so I looked up Prometheus’s story and Zeus.” He paused, directing to the page in the book.

“Rumor has it, Aletheia may be the child of Zeus and Hera.”

Jason looked up in amazement with all the others. “She could be my cousin?” He questioned, a look of joyfulness gleamed in his eyes. “I might have a cousin?”

“Might.” Chiron replied. “But remember this is a rumor, a possibility. No one has confirmed it. Aletheia may be the Goddess of truth but she sure did well keeping a low profile over the millennium.”

Piper smiled. “That would mean that she’d be family to Hera and Zeus. She wouldn’t have to worry about not having family.”

“Maybe.” Nico added, not wanting to sink the mood but it was all speculation, there were many Gods and Goddesses that were minor but they still had information in books. Aletheia was the most up in the air Goddess that he had interacted with, as Elli had told him, she could lie but she’d feel it. However, no one else would.

“The Goddess could have lied about the whole neither Greek nor Roman aspect.” Nico commented.

“Elli told me that she can sense truths but she can still lie. She’d feel herself do it but we wouldn’t know the difference.” With everyone’s attention, Nico continued. “The Goddess of Truth could have the same ability considering Elli inherited it.”

“After all.” Nico said after looking over everyone. “Why be a Goddess of Truth and hide from the world? Chiron said it himself, he has hardly anything except speculation over this Goddess. If we get lucky we can ask Camp Jupiter what they know about Veritas but I doubt they have much else either.”

The thought angered Rachel. “So you’re saying that she could have lied to us about her name? About herself? Elli could be a spy for who know what?”

Nico glared. “Elli’s not a spy. She was running for her life…”

“…and came back with Tucker.” Annabeth took over, Nico’s explanation. “Rachel, if Elli was a spy then she wuoldn’t have been claimed. She may be able to lie to us but who here can say that they haven’t lied before?” She said glancing around the table getting guilty looks in return.

“Exactly.” Annabeth sighed.” If Elli was a spy then for what? Prometheus? She’s still new to this whole being a demigod process to don’t raise flag too fast. Besides, what is there to spy on?” Annabeth asked again. “We’re open to Camp Jupiter and we’re finding kids faster than before. Jason’s building shrines for all the minor Gods and Goddess and yet we find children for them too!” Annabeth gave a small smile as Jason.

“If there was anything from us to steal, I wouldn’t know what. She received a quest not of our descent, is that enough to say that she’s against us?”

Rachel smirked. “I don’t know what it is, Annabeth.” She sighed. “This whole truth or not ability with her makes me feel uncomfortable, I mean, she can learn who everyone here is, all the detail with a simple look, touch, with words coming out of someone’s mouth, if that doesn’t make you on edge, then I don’t know what would. She’s practically looking at directly into our souls.”

“Even so,” Piper interjected. “that doesn’t mean we can’t trust her.”

“Well.” Jason shrugged and looked at Percy for approval. Percy nodded. “I see what you mean, Rachel.” Percy continued for Jason.

“But at the same time.” Jason replied. “It’s who she is. You can’t change that.”

Rachel sighed. “I’m saying she makes me feel uneasy is all.”

Nico glared. “She makes you feel uneasy?” He barked, making Rachel look at him with fright.

“Who do you think she’s been picking to pieces since she’s got here?” He crossed his arms. “Tucker?”

Rachel looked at Nico amused and so did the others, they didn’t expect him to speak with such aggravation.

“I’m sorry that she makes you feel uncomfortable Miss prophecy but what can she see from your life that’s worse than there’s if anything, looking into your life might be a breeze verses looking into all of ours at once.” Nico hissed. “You should realize who’s the real enemy here, Rachel, and if you don’t then let me tell you, it’s not Elli.”

Chiron sighed and everyone gawked at Nico, even Will had a interested look on his face.

“Nico is right. Did Elli have a dream of some sort that she mentioned to any of you?”

  Racheal sighed. “There was one.”

  Everyone faced her.

“She said that she saw a lady and her dad, but when her dad talked his eyes changed colors, he was clearly unconscious.”

“A lady?” Chiron nodded. “Any other descriptions?”

“Not really.” Racheal shrugged. “Unless I’m missing something?” She said, her gaze going from each individual to the next. When she came to Nico’s gaze, he frowned and she frowned back. Looking away from each other she glanced at Will who was still looking at Nico.

“Not much of a description, huh?” Chiron smirked. “Nico, do you believe you could get this for us?”

Nico looked up at Chiron. “You mean, a better description of the dream?”

Chiron nodded and Nico shrugged. “I’ll see what I can do but no promises.”

Chiron nodded again. “The attempt will be enough, she trust you Nico and she knows you. You’ll be able to communicate better with her than anyone else.”

“Which goes without saying.” Will sighed. “I’m sorry that I’m no going to allow Nico to push himself any farther but who should go with her? I can’t. I’m healing the wounded from our last battle still.” He frowned. “If anyone has the lack of experience I’d say it’s Rachel but she wouldn’t do much good for Elli’s quest.”

Racheal nodded, feeling a hostility from both Nico and Will. What was it with those two? She shrugged it off. “I’m out of the question but turning back to that suggestion. If she’s technically or possibility family with Hera and Zeus shouldn’t she try to go with one of them? Maybe Aletheia might admit something to her then?”

Percy smirked. “Yea…” Percy coughed out a laugh. “Hera doesn’t have any demigod children remember?”

Annoyed, Rachel glanced over at Percy.

“Goddess of marriage right? No affairs? Husbands job?” He said and then nodded at Jason. “No offense.”

  Jason grinned. “None taken.”

Sighing, Rachel looked over at Jason. “Well, I know that the quest is over Prometheus but maybe having you there might benefit her since... Isn’t he like… pinned with Zeus’s lightning bolt?”

Jason shrugged. “I don’t actually know the story of Prometheus.” Jason laughed nervously. “All I know is that he did something bad.”

Turning to Chiron, the group awaited for an answer.

“There is much to learn of Prometheus.” Chiron replied simply. But what the Goddess said about the relation between Prometheus and Olympus is true.”

Amused, Percy looked at Chiron in a daze. “Hold on, we’re talking about Prometheus? You mean, the one who wanted me to give up? He’s still chained to that rock?” Percy asked in amazement.
