Week Fourteen: The Descendant: A Spoken Truth

Nine o’clock sharp every Monday through Friday the campers would gather and sing songs around the campfire. Elli followed close behind Celeste who had made her bring the bongos with here. Elli blushed when she was Tucker nod and Nico look at her in amusement. Annabeth smiled and sat next to a boy with short black hair who smiled at her as well. Elli noted that the two were together and Nico had mentioned him. His name loosely hung in her mind. He was either Percy Jackson or Jason Grace. At the thought of Jason Grace, Elli was forced to sit next to a blonde boy with blue eyes. He scouted over to make room for her gave a friendly smile. His eyes didn’t remind her of Will’s or Celeste’s and he also didn’t have an instrument in hand.
On the other side of him, and also holding his hand, was another friendly spirit. This girl had tanned skin and reminded Elli of the Native Americans that she hardly dealt with at the station but knew when they came around. Her hair was a chocolate brown and braided with beads on both sides of her head. She wore a camouflage tank with shorts and combat boots. Elli could see the trust between the two and smiled.
Turning to her, the boy grinned. “Jason Grace.” He said holding out his hand.
Elli blushed. Nico described Jason to be a hero. She didn’t believe she had the right to shake his hand yet considering she wasn’t even claimed. Despite the inner guilt, Elli took his hand.
 “Elli Triad.” She smiled.
The girl next to him gave him a nudge and shook her head. Elli looked at her in confusion, the girl’s eyes were green a moment ago. Whispering something in Jason’s ear, the girl turned to Elli ith brown eyes and then blue.
“You’ll have to excuse him, he tends to forget. I’m Piper McLean, daughter of Aphrodite.”
Elli looked a Piper in amusement. “The Goddess of beauty and love?”
 Piper shrugged. “Yea…” She smirked.
“I can see it.” Elli gave a small smile, “but I have to ask…”
“Yes, Tristan McLean is my father.” Piper said with a sigh.
“Must’ve been lonely.” Elli said with a smirk thinking of how many movies she knew with Piper’s father in it.”
Piper look up in amazement. Without having to say anything Elli smiled. “I had a police officer for an adopted father and then he became an FBI Agent. I wouldn’t say they share a status of being ‘famous’ but I can say that they were both pretty caught up with their work.”
Piper nodded and smiled. “I’m glad you understand.”
 Elli smirked. “Oh, too well.”
“Oh!” Jason said with a nervous laugh. “I’m the son of Zeus…?” He said looking at Elli with a nervous smile.
Piper rolled her eyes and Elli laughed. “Don’t worry, I know who my mother is. These spirits called the pseudologoi told me. All I have to do is wait for her to claim me.”
Jason nodded. “Instrument says you’re Apollo’s.” He smiled.
Elli shook her head. “Celeste taught me how to play. There are only two notes on this so I can’t really go wrong.”
Piper opened her mouth to speak but was taken over by the other campers as they sang. Giving a silent smile, Elli turned to Celeste who was trying to explain to her when to hit the bongos. Soon, she fell in the pattern with everyone else like magic.
As the night approached and ten o’clock almost hit, the Apollo cabin called out one more song for the night and then it would be off to bed. Celeste had made it clear that Elli was going to sleep in the Apollo cabin until her mother claimed her in plain sight and even then, they’d have to build her a cabin so until all was settled, Elli agreed to sleep in the Apollo cabin.
The campfire lit up with high spirits and Elli could feel the waves of true emotion. It made her happy and made her more comfortable to stay with Camp Half Blood. Even though she knew none of the words to any of the songs they sang she felt intrigued by the group and how they managed to come together and not set off her inner security system.
Hitting the last verse, all the campers laugh and clapped as the song ended and Elli smiled. Taking a stand, Nico held out his hand to gain everyone’s attention before they completely scattered. Nico gulped in anticipation and Will took his side. Giving a silent nod, Nico faced Elli.
“Everyone! I forgot to introduce our newest member!” He said and all eyes were on her. She was tempted to drop the bongos and run for it.
“Elli?” He said ushering for her to join him and Will.
Standing next to Nico gave Elli some comfort. She handed the bongos to Celeste to ease her embarrassment. Why did Nico have to put her on the stop like this? She smirked as she sucked in a breath and spoke.
“Hi…” She whispered. A strong hand met her shoulder. “This is my sister Elli, everyone.” Tucker’s voice washed over her thoughts.
Elli smiled as she gained the courage to speak. Tucker’s presence made it that much easier for her to speak.
“I am Elli Triad.” She said louder.  The tension began to smooth.
“Go ahead Elli, tell them about yourself.” Tucker said.
“I’m not Tucker’s literal sister.” Elli grinned looking up at Tucker with a smirk. “Tucker rescued me from a minotaur and helped save my adopted father too. That’s why he says we’re siblings.” She smiled as people faced her. “He feels responsible is all.” She grinned.
 Tucker frowned. “Now sis.”
“It’s fine Tucker.” She smiled. “I don’t mind being your little sister but I know that I’m not a daughter of Athena although I wish.” She smirked. “Or even Aries.” She sighed. “Or Apollo since all of you are so nice.”
Some of the members looked amongst each other in amusement. Some agreed, others didn’t think as highly.
“But there is one thing I do know.” She sighed.

“I am no child of the twelve main gods.” She frowned feeling somewhat separated from most of the Camp. “I am the daughter of Aletheia and/or Veritas and…” Around her was a gust of wind. Weapons were drawn and everyone froze.
